It Just Doesn’t Get Any Better Than This On Sunday, Except if You Add a Bowl of…

21May12

Thanks to everyone who took the time to answer yesterday’s question, although some people may have not answered because they were too busy enjoying their Sunday instead of spending time on the computer (completely understandable by the way, it was a beautiful day here in New York yesterday). Anyway, I said I already knew what my answer was to the question:

What is your idea of the perfect Sunday?

I do have two visions of the perfect Sunday. One is an idea I am using in a short story I am working on about a Sunday, so sadly I am not going to be sharing that one just yet. It kind of gives away the whole storyline if I get into right now, and I don’t want to do that just yet, so you’ll have to wait a little bit longer for that one. I’ll probably put it on here on a Sunday coming up soon. As for the Sunday that I consider perfect, it’s actually pretty simple. Like most people, I would want the perfect Sunday to be with my family, so I would Michelle and Sean (and Flash too of course) there with me. I love the Sundays where we just laze around in our pajamas until 11 AM (or sometimes longer) and then have a leisurely brunch or lunch that Michelle or I make. Sometimes it’s just some toasted bagels and coffee or juice, sometimes it’s more with bacon and eggs, but we try not to make it too complicated. After brunch, it’s usually back to lying around, everyone reading their different books. I love to spend Sunday doing the New York Times Crossword in the morning with my cup of coffee and listening to some Miles Davis, Charlie Parker, Lester Young or whatever other jazz I feel like listening to that day. After a few hours of lying around reading, I’ll make us a nice dinner, nothing too fancy ( I save that for when we have our guests over for Sunday dinner) or maybe we’ll just order out and get some Chinese food or some Planet Wings. By then it’s evening, we’re still in our pajamas, the television has never been turned on all day and maybe we have played a board game or two and it’s time for bed after we have spent the whole day together. Very nice.

That’s my ideal Sunday. Again, thanks to those who answered and thanks to Geoffrey Zakarian who took the time to answer the question as well. That brings us to today’s question. I like to think about things that bring us back to our childhood when we didn’t have all the worries we have now as adults. We didn’t have to worry about mortgages, taxes, unemployment, health benefits, eating right, exercising and all that. We got up in the morning, went about our day and went to bed at night. So speaking of getting up in the morning, let’s have a fun question today, something light and easy before we get into heavy stuff later on in the week, It is Monday after all:

What was your favorite breakfast cereal growing up?

Now maybe it’s still your favorite breakfast cereal, and that’s okay too, but we all had that special cereal we begged our parents to get for us and we looked forward to having every morning. What was yours? You can answer on here, or on Facebook or Twitter. I’ll also ask a few people on Twitter and see if anyone answers. I’ll post my answer tomorrow.

As always, if you have anything you would like to contribute to the blog, please feel free to contact me (there are many ways, or you can email me at IguanaFlats@msn.com) and I would be happy to share whatever you would like to share. I really do intend to start posting some fiction on here, it’s just a matter of having the time to organize and refine what I have and getting over my complete anxiety about having my fiction out there for others to see. It’s not something I have shared much of, so there is some trepidation on my part. Anyway, I’ll get over it eventually 🙂 Until next time, don’t forget to do something creative today!
